Travel Resources
Here you’ll find some tips on how we book our trips as well as links to the websites we most commonly use to find and book our trips. We’re big fans of every website linked here and definitely recommend their use. Additionally, if you book anything through the following links, we receive a small compensation and it does not change the cost for you at all!
Travel Requirements
Sherpa – This great little website gives you information on travel requirements to countries based on your nationality. Find out if there are travel restrictions, if you need a visa and a link to the official visa website, or if there are (non-COVID) vaccine requirements/recommendations.
Flights
Momondo – When searching for flight tickets we personally use Momondo all the time and we recommend you do too. This metasearch website doesn’t sell tickets, it just aggregates information from airlines and other websites that do sell tickets so you can search for the best and cheapest flights! Use Momondo’s “flexible date” setting when searching for flights to find even cheaper flights by letting it mix and match dates.
Skyscanner – This is Momondo’s more popular brother, it has virtually all the same functionalities and is also an amazing website for searching for flights. We just prefer Momondo’s “Search Everywhere” map function that makes it easy to find plane tickets when you don’t know what destination you want to go to yet.
Accommodations
Booking – The one and only, the king of accommodations. Needless to say, we use Booking a lot as they have great customer services, great prices and almost everyone is on booking anyways. Our only recommendation is if you are going to book something on Booking, also check the hotel / B&B / hostel website directly to see if their prices aren’t lower on their own website.
Hostelworld – When you’re traveling alone and looking to meet people or you’re on a budget, Hostelworld should be your go-to site. Cut away from all other kinds of accommodations and focus on finding the perfect hostel for yourself. While most of the hostels are also available on Booking, you can sometimes find a lower price here.
Airbnb – While Airbnb doesn’t have an affiliate program, we do also use it on occasion and would be remiss to not include it on this list. It has gotten quite pricey in recent years, but you can still always find amazing gems on this website. Also, the user experience is by far the best of any accommodation website we use.
VRBO – For all our American users out there, VRBO should be no stranger. A great site to find larger holiday homes, like beach cabins or villas.
Travel
Flixbus – Offers night buses across all of Europe. This is by far the surest and cheapest way to get yourself anywhere in Europe.
Trainline – This is the perfect website to book a train trip across multiple countries in Europe. They set up the cheapest routes for you and you can manage multiple train tickets all under one purchase order.
Car Rental
Rentalcars.com – Has the least creative name in the world, but is one of the most convenient services for finding cheap cars to rent in any country. Rentalcars will compare all available suppliers at a location and let you know the costs in a simple manner.
Travel Insurance
SafetyWing – When planning a vacation, especially one that will cost a lot of money or involve carrying a lot of equipment like cameras and laptops, one of the first things we do is make sure our travel insurance is appropriate for the circumstances.
Visa Purchase
Check on iVisa if a visa is required for your upcoming destination. They provide a fairly easy, traveler-friendly process.
